“Keep your eyes on the prize.” These words have impacted Ja’Nise since she was a little girl. They are the words of her mother, who always encouraged Ja’Nise to pave her own path. Born in Port Arthur, TX, but raised in San Antonio, Ja’Nise and her family are long serving constituents of San Antonio’s Black community.

She’s the publisher/writer for Black Focus Magazine. She launched Black Focus to re-centralize the black community, bringing together people of color from and relocating to San Antonio. She has a background in broadcast news journalism and non-profit communications. She’s a former WOAI news producer and was KABB’s Fox News First morning show producer where she was the main contributor in branding its 8am newscast.

Ja’Nise is a member for the San Antonio Association of Black Journalists, a chapter of the National Association of Black Journalist. She’s also an alumni of the African-American Leadership Institute and the founder of the Jr. Brahmas Youth Football & Cheer Organization. When she’s not writing, you can usually find Ja’Nise hanging out with her family at football and cheer practice.
